Victor Yang  Partner

Mr. Yang is a partner of Jewkes Chan & Partners—¸ associated law firm in Hong Kong, Boughton Peterson Yang Anderson, Solicitors, and has been a partner of Jewkes Chan & Partners since 2007.

Mr. Yang—¸s areas of practice include corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, securities and public listings, trusts and tax planning.

Mr. Yang was born in Shanghai, China and completed his primary and secondary education at the Diocesan Boys—¸ School in Hong Kong. He later attended the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and received his B. Comm. and LL.B degrees. After graduating from law school in 1970, Mr. Yang initially worked as an accountant between 1970 to 1972 with the chartered accountancy firm of Thorne, Gunn, Helliwell & Christiansen (now known as KPMG) before forming his own law practice in Vancouver.

Since his university days, Mr. Yang has taken an active role in a number of Canadian university and community organizations, including the UBC Students' Society, the Immigrant Services Society, the Chinese Cultural Centre, the Chinese Overseas Students' Association of UBC and the United Chinese Community Services Society. He was also a founding member and past president of the Vancouver chapter of the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association. In addition, Mr. Yang has been invited to speak before many professional and business organizations, including the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, the Business sub-section of the Canadian Bar, the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association, the Conference Board of Canada, the Lions Club (HK East Island Chapter) and the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.

He has served on various boards of publicly listed companies in Canada, Hong Kong, U.S.A. and Singapore.
He is presently a governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Major Sports Events Committee of the Home Affairs Bureau, Hong Kong SAR and a director of the Hong Kong Foundation for UBC Limited and was a board member of the Canadian International School in Hong Kong.

Mr. Yang was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong in September 1992. Mr. Yang was also admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in British Columbia, Canada (1974) and as a Solicitor of England & Wales (1992).
