Eliza C.H. Chan Partner
Ms. Chan is a solicitor admitted in Canada (British Columbia), England and Wales, and Hong Kong. She was formerly the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office of a major Canadian law firm and the Head of the China Department of Denton Hall.
She is primarily responsible for undertaking PRC corporate and commercial matters, in which she has substantial specialist experience. She represents a range of major corporations and institutions in connection with their PRC investment and business activities and frequently speaks at seminars on PRC business and legal issues.
Ms. Chan holds a Diploma in PRC Law and is an Attesting Officer appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC. In addition, she acts as principal legal adviser to several major PRC companies in relation to their Hong Kong and overseas business, finance and investment activities. She is the legal adviser to The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association, an organization of all the major PRC companies, banks and institutions in Hong Kong. She is a Standing Committee Member of the Tianjin Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CCPCC). She also serves as the Foreign Economic Affairs Legal Counsel for the Tianjin Municipal Government. She is also an arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Commission (CIETAC).
She holds a number of Hong Kong Government appointments, notably to the Board of the Hospital Authority, the Public Service Commission, the Board of Education and the Hong Kong Examinations and Hong Kong Assessment Authority. She is an adjudicator of the Hong Kong Immigration Tribunal.
She is a member of the Selection Committee appointed by the Government of the PRC to select the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR and the Provisional Legislature of the Hong Kong SAR. Ms. Chan has been conferred Justice of the Peace (J.P.) by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR and granted the "Distinguished Alumni Award" from the University of Victoria.
